Educators Endorse Leanne Krueger-Braneky for Re-Election

Swarthmore, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 — Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky, a Swarthmore businesswoman and incumbent in the 161st Legislative District, on Tuesday announced her endorsement by Pennsylvania’s largest education-focused organizations.

The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA)—Pennsylvania’s largest teachers’ union—represents more than 187,000 teachers, educational support professionals, librarians, and students. Jerry Oleksiak president of PSEA, stated: “Pennsylvania is currently 46th in the nation for public school funding. Our children need a representative in Harrisburg who will fight for their constitutional right to a ‘thorough and efficient education.’ I trust Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky to lead that fight because of her proven track record of standing up for Pennsylvania’s students and educators.”

The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT) represents more than 11,000 teachers, nurses, counselors, instructional support personnel, and other educators in Philadelphia, making it the second-largest teachers union in Pennsylvania. PFT President Jerry Jordan said, “Rep. Krueger-Braneky understands that the only way our students can succeed in the classroom is educators have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively, and children have the resources they need to learn. Pennsylvania teachers need representatives in Harrisburg who will fight for appropriate resources, and adequate funding as part of a holistic vision of the schools our children deserve. PFT members want to continue working with Rep. Krueger-Braneky to develop long-term, sustainable education solutions that are good for our children, families, educators, and communities.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of workers dedicated to ensuring a bright future for Pennsylvania’s public school students. The PSEA and PFT are committed to providing our children with the highest quality public education possible,” Krueger-Braneky said. “Working to reduce class sizes, expand early childhood education, and keeping our kids safe is crucial for creating healthy communities and a competitive workforce. If re-elected on November 8th, I will continue to advocate for and support educators and children in order to strengthen Pennsylvania’s communities and our economy.”
