Swarthmore, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 —Pennsylvania Representative Leanne Krueger Braneky (D-Delaware) on Tuesday was re-elected to serve the 161st Legislative District, 15 months after an upset special election victory in which she became the first woman to serve the 161st and the first Democrat to flip a Republican House district since 2010.
“Serving the people of the 161st District has been the honor of my life. I am incredibly proud of the responsive and attentive constituent service my staff and I provide to residents. We have closed 99 percent of the 4,636 constituent cases we’ve received in our short time in office, and I am determined to get us to 100 percent,” Rep. Krueger-Braneky said.
A small business leader prior to running for office, Krueger-Braneky has worked to support the clean energy sector in order to create jobs, collaborated with anti-abortion organizations to fight pollution that harms infants and children, and closed a Big Tobacco tax loophole that returned $6 million to Pennsylvanians.
Rep. Krueger-Braneky vowed to continue working with the Democratic caucus and Republican majority in the General Assembly to realign education funding with a newly restored distribution formula; increase the minimum wage from $7.25, the lowest in the region; uphold constitutionally protected reproductive rights; and strengthen environmental regulations to combat climate change.
