Leanne Krueger-Braneky endorsed by SEIU Pennsylvania State Council

SEIU ENDORSES LEANNE KRUEGER-BRANEKY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE 161ST LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT

Swarthmore, July 23, 2015 — Leanne Krueger-Braneky, a Swarthmore businesswoman and candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 161st Legislative District, announced her endorsement by SEIU Pennsylvania State Council, which represents nearly 80,000 workers across the Commonwealth.

“Pennsylvania needs leaders who understand that family-sustaining jobs, fair wages, and dignity for all workers are key to the Commonwealth’s economic growth. Leanne has demonstrated a passion for these issues, and that is why she has earned SEIU’s enthusiastic support,” said Neal Bisno, Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU Pennsylvania State Council and President of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania. “We have a governor in Tom Wolf who is working to strengthen the middle class, but he needs partners like Leanne in the General Assembly to put Pennsylvania back on track.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of workers who form the backbone of Pennsylvania’s middle class,” Krueger-Braneky said. “Pennsylvania still does not have a budget because House Republicans would rather give tax breaks to gas companies and out-of-state corporations than to middle-class families and seniors. If elected on August 4th, I will fight for fair treatment and dignity for workers and for good-paying jobs that lift people out of poverty and help our middle class get ahead.”

The Service Employees International Union is dedicated to improving the lives of workers and their families and creating a more just and humane society. In Pennsylvania, the SEIU Pennsylvania State Council represents nearly 80,000 workers in the areas of health care, public services, property services, school employees, laundry and distribution. The council works to coordinate and unify the collective political and legislative priorities of all SEIU locals and districts throughout the state.

In addition to SEIU, Krueger-Braneky has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, the National Organization for Women Pennsylvania Chapter, Governor Tom Wolf, former Governor Ed Rendell, Represent! PA, Planned Parenthood, CeaseFirePA, Conservation Voters of PA, Education Voters Action Fund, and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776. The 161st Legislative District special election is on Tuesday, August 4th.
