State Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky (D-Delaware) announced three grants for Aston Township totaling $882,525 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Act 13 Program.
The funds will go toward:
• $315,000 for multimodal work at Aston Concord Road and Donnelly Avenue
• $332,500 for multimodal work at Aston Concord Road and MacIntyre Drive
• $235,025 for a watershed restoration project at Aston Newsome Property Park
“This grant is a perfect example of government helping communities become more sustainable for those who live and travel in them,” said James Stigale, president of the Aston Township Board of Commissioners. “The community will be greatly served by the improvements made possible by this grant funding.”
Act 13 of 2012 established the Marcellus Legacy Fund and allocates funds to the Commonwealth Financing Authority for watershed restoration and protection projects that include the construction, improvement, expansion, repair, maintenance or rehabilitation of new or existing watershed protection Best Management Practices.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. The CFA consists of seven board members: four legislative appointees and the secretaries of DCED, the Office of the Budget and Department of Banking.
